I stood upon the sandy beach and gazed on the sea,
I watched the foaming waves beat high and dash angrily.
Somewhere from a distance they came foaming, leaping,
Dashing, roaring, dancing gleefully.
Like others gone their lives shall end whenever they
Reach shore, the foaming, lashing, happy waves,
Shall then be heard no more.
The foaming waves against the deep reminds me of the sky,
Like fleeting clouds across the blue as they go sailing by.
There are diamond-like waves glittering there with rays of light.
The sea is like a starlight sky that sparkles in the night.
Oh, wondrous mischief of it all! Oh, father of us all,
What lies beneath the ocean's depth?
What is hidden in the sea?
Only Thee can control that watery Providence,
To man known as the sea.
