On July 6, 2012, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom gently called His beloved Vera Janet Price, wife of Rev. Wayne S. Price, Sr., home. She was born in Salisbury, Maryland on December 19, 1947, to the late John E. Moore and her journeying partner Corinda Mae Moore. She was the youngest of three children.

She found the Lord at a very early age in her hometown church in Wetipquin, Maryland and has worked continually in His service. She became a member of Evangel Cathedral in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Most of Vera’s life was spent in Landover, Maryland. She was a graduate of Salisbury High School, class of 1965, and also studied at Bowie State University.

She retired after many years of federal government service in Computer Systems Management at Department of Defense in Ft. Meade, Maryland. In 2003, Vera and her husband founded The Center for True Justice and Healing (CTJH), a 501-c non-profit corporation that works with people struggling with all types of traumatic loss, especially victims of violent crime and natural disaster. As a victim advocate she was empathetic and caring, and provided great mentorship and support for everyone she worked with.

Vera was the most compassionate, strong, dedicated, and loving person you could have ever met. If Vera ever met you, you had a friend for life. She had a passion for sending cards to people she knew, always expressing her heartfelt love and appreciation for their friendship. As a victim of pain she understood the struggles that so many people endure.

In November of 2011 Vera wrote these words in response to the question, “Should an individual have the right to die?” which was a topic of discussion on the Dr. Oz show: “I believe that God makes the decision when I should die. Pain is a daily part of my life, yet I don't want to die until my time comes. I trust that God will give me the endurance to go through whatever He allows.” Vera loved life and wanted others to know that God was the decision maker about when we die.

She leaves precious memories in the hearts of: Her loving husband Wayne S. Price, Sr.; Her children Craig S. Whittington, Deanne A. Henry, and stepdaughters and their husbands Ronald and Charina Price-Jones and Brandy and Monica Price-Allen; Her two deceased sons Phillip O’Brian Price and stepson Wayne S. Price, Jr.; Two brothers & two sisters-in-law Milton & Rena Moore and Levi & Pat Moore; Twelve grandchildren one deceased; Four great-grandchildren; And a host of other relatives and friends.
